How Beeswax Candles Clear the Air

How Beeswax Candles Clear the Air

Beeswax candles have become a go-to alternative for many people when it comes to indoor lighting and mood-setting. People cite a variety of reasons for their switch to beeswax candles, from expanding their candle selections to going for a more natural feel for their home. One of the more oft-cited reasons, however, is how beeswax candles are more nature-friendly to use than most commercial candles in the market today.

In its purest form, a beeswax candle is made from freshly-harvested beeswax, and produced through an all-natural, hands-on process. Little if any artificial materials are included in its production, resulting in an all-organic end-product. Thanks to its natural production and ingredients, a beeswax candle spreads less chemicals in the air when lit compared to most commercial candle products.

This stands in contrast to many commercial candle products currently out in the market, which are generally made from paraffin wax. Paraffin is one of many by-products of the petroleum refining process, along with propane, lubricants and petrochemicals. Paraffin, being an early product of the process, contains a high concentration of contaminants and crude material that can adversely affect the air around it, even if the wax had already been processed to be cleaner.

There have also been talks about how burning beeswax candles can release negative ions in the air, which apparently happens when a beeswax candle is lit. The expected effect is similar to how air ionizers work, albeit in this case the process is done through the candles themselves. This unintended effect is still under study, but if corroborated by other researches, can be a further boon for sticking to beeswax candles.

Beeswax candles offer a lot more positives for their uses, going beyond their relaxing and mood-setting properties. Now may be a good time to switch over to our specialty birthday candles, for you and your loved ones’ health.
